A driver runs over a dozen cyclists in Brazil.

"Critical Mass is a celebration cyclist who has place every month in many cities worldwide. Its purpose is to claim a greater presence of bicycles in cities to reduce the nuisance caused by motor traffic, noise, pollution, congestion, insecurity ... as well as cyclists usually participate skaters. The name comes from the sociological concept of the same name, which refers to the number of individuals involved in a phenomenon from which it acquires its own dynamic that allows you to sustain and grow itself.

Well, "Critical Mass" held last Friday in Porto Alegre (Brazil) a peaceful demonstration which involved about 150 cyclists who were firing across the city and thought to ask for more spaces for bicycles in the city. After them, I was a driver in a hurry, Ricardo Jose Neis, 47, a black Volkswagen Golf. But instead of waiting patiently for the cyclists to pass on to another street or leaving the rally, Ricardo was nervous, sped up and ran over two dozen of them.

After this brutal attack, the driver stopped and fled. Witnesses rushed to attend to the wounded and no one was in pursuit. However, hours later, police found an abandoned car with the same registration that used by Neis, but not trace the driver. Meanwhile, in the scene, eight of the cyclists approached by the driver were admitted to hospital, five with serious injuries serious. One is still hospitalized. But miraculously no fatalities.

Shortly after these events occur, the police received a call from the driver escaped lawyer who wanted to name his client. This was delivered, at last, on Monday, to give his version of events. After four hours of statement, Richard J. Neis assured reporters he was sorry for his attitude and argued that cyclists had caused. "They were hitting very hard (in the car). If I'd stayed there, I would have been lynched, "Neis said in remarks carried by several Brazilian media.

The video, recorded by cell phone of one of the riders and made public Internet sites, it is shocking and not for people easily impressed. Speaks for itself, and no adjectives supporting the driver.
